Let’s Talk Mondays!

💕 Happy M O N D A Y 💕

Letterboard Quote from Get Social Co.
Let’s face it, most people don’t really love Mondays, myself included. However, being prepared for the week takes a LOT of my grumpiness away.

Do you have a plan in place for your social media this week? Staying ahead is the best way to be successful, stay consistent and please your clients. It’s a great habit to start, and once you do it for a little while, you really appreciate how much smoother your social media plan becomes.

Don’t have time to do your own social media? I’m here to help! Send me a message and let’s chat. 💕

💃🏼 And if all else fails, dance parties REALLY lighten the mood! #bootyshake

Let’s Talk Selfies

How good is your selfie game?

Nicole, owber of Get Social Co taking a selfie.Get Social Co

Now I know most people are very black & white on the selfie game. You either like it or your don’t. However, let’s talk about selfies as a business owner. Your face is what people like to see! These days society is super curious about what goes on behind the scenes. Selfies are a fantastic way to personalize your business and give your clients and followers a glimpse into your every day process.

Get out of your comfort zone and show people who you are! We want to see your face!!

The actual selfie I was taking in the above photo. Is this considered “Selfie Inception”?

Let’s Talk Workspaces

How important is your workspace?

Get Social Co at Grandview Public Market | Workspace

If you’re like me, you’re business doesn’t need a defined “office”. My workspace varies weekly. Sometimes I need my couch and the TV on in the background. Sometimes I need a desk, and my planner, and soft music. Other times I prefer a local coffee shop or creative space.
Working from home has a lot of perks (doing conference calls in PJ pants is just one of them), but it can get lonely. There are times where you just want to be around other people.
One thing is constant, no matter where I work, Coffee!
I must have access to coffee!!

Pumphouse Coffee Roasters at Grandview Public Market always makes a delicious cup!

Are you more productive in a busy setting or do you prefer a quiet, focused environment?

Social Media At Your Wedding

Hey guys, I got married back in January. Yea! I gotta say, it was SUPER amazing! I loved every minute of it and I wouldn’t have changed a thing.

Among the many, MANY memories that continue to pop into my head each day, one particular one always makes me chuckle. The moment when my Dad walked me down the aisle. I was feeling super emotional and basically just trying to hold in my tears. Then I looked at my guests. There they were, all dressed up, waiting for me to walk by them. Quite a few of them holding up a smart phone! Now I know, a lot of brides don’t care for that sort of thing, but me, being the social media geek that I am, felt a sense of pride… and then I laughed!

We definitely encouraged the use of social media at our wedding, and I’m glad we did! Our wedding hashtag was a great way for us to track all the photos our friends and family took over the course of our wedding weekend!

Our very talented photographer, Kalia, worked super hard to get us the most beautiful photos. Those take time though, and for once, in a VERY long time, this was an occasion I didn’t have my iPhone with me the whole time. So, it was the photos from our friends that we were able to see first! It was a really nice thing to do together, the day after, from our hotel room. Plus, I’m such a sucker for the “Behind The Scenes” moments. Aren’t you?!!?

Here are some fun photos from some of our friends <3

I’d love to hear what you guys think about social media & weddings. Did you encourage it at your own nuptials? Or did you keep things more traditional?

And The Oscar Goes To

So because I stay crazy busy, and I basically fall asleep 15 minutes into any movie I start, I haven’t seen any of the nominees for this year’s  Academy Awards! I know, I know…horrifying!

I’m dying to see these four for sure… Birdman, Boyhood, The Grand Budapest Hotel, and The Theory of Everything!

I’ve been basically watching the E! Oscar Special and drooling over all the lovely dresses from past years. Can’t wait to see what everyone wears tonight! Who do YOU think will win tonight?

And the nominees are…

Because I haven’t actually seen any of the movies, I vote for Wes Anderson, because I always love his movies and I always will <3 Emma Stone is my serious girl crush, so I hope she wins everything!!  Plus, HELLO!, Barney Stinson is hosting!!

Well, I’m off to watch the show…hope you’re enjoying champagne at your Home Oscar Party! Have fun lovies!! xoxo

Start Your 2015 With Great Social Media

Here we go again! Another New Year. (Woohoooo!!) A chance to start fresh, start again, do better!

But first…let’s review. Here are a few things that happened in 2014 that caught our attention.

In 2014 several new social media networks popped up. Ello.co promises to never sell their users personal data, YikYakapp.com gives their users a live feed of what everyone’s saying that are physically nearby, and tsu.co says if you’re a content creator, you’ll earn fair value for all the social things you normally do.  Now, as much as we like the idea of having a new network to check out (no lie, we checked them out), the problem we found with these networks is the lack of members. They have a hard time not feeling empty after a very short time! Even Google+ has issues with this. Hopefully eventually these new networks can flourish, but right now they don’t seem to have the momentum needed to keep us interested. And let’s face it, low membership = little or no chance for business to get noticed. No good! So for now, we’re just not ready to give up on Facebook’s 1.23 billion monthly active users!

Social Media has become a huge leader in the way people get their news. Many stories break on twitter before the national news channels release the info. Here are some big events from this past year we followed on social media.

See the entire infographic here by addthis.com

Love online shopping? 2014 brought “buy buttons” to both Facebook & Twitter.

Instead of trying to get your clients to click through to your website, they can now buy directly from your tweet or post! #Genius

As cool as we think this is, they won’t be available to all users until (hopefully) sometime in 2015.

A few other cool things that happened:

Fastest growing app in 2014: Snapchat

Tumblr Overtook Instagram As Fastest-Growing Social Platform

Pinterest drives six times more social media referrals than Twitter

Now, let’s look ahead…2015, here we come! What should your business be doing to bring even more attention to your brand? For starters, by now you should be on a minimum of two social networks. Depending on your business and who you want your audience to be, these can vary dramatically from business to business.

We always tell our clients that social media is just that…Social! You don’t have to be super salesy (it’s a word, we swear!) you just have to talk! Be funny, be interesting, be engaging! Posting things is just one part of it. Interact with your followers, connect with other like minded or local business, answer comments and questions in a reasonable amount of time. People want to know your company has a personality. Show it to them!

Social Media Tools that businesses will be utilizing even more in 2015:

1. Secret apps like snapchat and yikyak

2. Podcasting

3. Video, video and more video!

4. User Generated Content (UGC) like user photos

And many more!

Monday’s Motivation

It’s Monday again. Yeah, I know, MONDAY!

It’s OK though, we’ve done it before, we’ll do it again! I’m going to help you get through this!

Step One: Get some coffee (or tea)! Seriously, don’t even TRY to get going without coffee. I’m going to let you enjoy that first cup alone, just to get your bearings. Come back when you’re done with that.

P.S. – Today is National Free Coffee Day! Get some!!

Step Two: Get up to date on what’s happening in the world. You don’t want to be the only one at the water cooler without something to add, do you!? This step is tricky though, Monday is NOT a day you want to head straight into Mainstream News Media. Nothing good can come of that! (Trust Me!) We’ll start you off with something light, thanks to the Huffington Post – Good News Section:

Watch What Happens When 30 People Are Asked To Loan Their Phone To A Stranger.

Cuz, People, Man! <3

Step Three: You need some CUTENESS in your life, STAT!  Warning: These furbabies are so cute they actually might make you mad.

Step Four: You know it’s Fall, right? That is a really good thing. Even here in South Florida, where we’re all like “Is it a little less humid today? It must be Fall!”.

So take a moment, notice the change in the air, drink something pumpkiny (yep, it’s a word) and enjoy the changing of the seasons! Also, THIS post from Mashable is rather breathtaking!

How you doing so far? Are you hanging in?

Try these for more happy feels:

1. The HUMOR tab on Pinterest is actually a pretty happy place.

2. Check out The Phraseology Project. It’s really cool!

3. Follow Harlow & Sage on instagram…you won’t be sorry!

And finally, just remember…

Happy Monday, lovies. Enjoy your day! xoxo

Remembering September 11th, 2001

I’ve been sitting here thinking about the fact that tomorrow is September 11th. The 13th anniversary of that fateful day. I remember it so vividly.

I was home from work when we got a call from my aunt to look on the news, a plane had just crashed into the WTC. I remember her saying she thought it must be a hijacker situation.

My daughter was one year old at the time. I had her down for a nap when the first tower fell. I couldn’t believe what I was watching. I couldn’t stop crying. Thinking of all those people still inside. I remember trying to stop crying and having to take a shower to calm myself down.

I was so scared after that. When they finally allowed the planes back in the sky, every one of them made me nervous. I was so naive before that day. Never thinking something like this could happen. Not here, not in America!

I thought (and still think) about the future we are paving out for our children. It’s a crazy, CRAZY world we live in,  but even so, the most important thing to me is family. I don’t know how someone can be filled with so much hate that they are capable of such horrible things. Maybe their family’s didn’t show them that love? I do know that I can’t dwell on that type of thing. Especially if I’d like to remain sane.

I do trust in God’s plan and I do know that the majority of folks on this earth are good. So on this day, September 11th, 2014, pause for a few moments between diaper changes, and backpack packing to remember those families that were suddenly torn apart, and just hug your loved ones, lift them up, help them, hold them.

I know one thing, I am a blessed girl with a wonderful family and group of friends. I hope you know, I appreciate you all SO much! xoxo

The Smart Ride – 2014

Hello, friends! I am super excited to write this blog post.

If you don’t know me personally, you may not know that I have a pretty amazing fiancé. His name is Avel and he is a top notch guy! Just one of the MANY awesome things he does is cycling. He’s been a cyclist almost his entire life. He rides some seriously long rides…just for fun! I can’t even imagine how hard that is, but he loves it and it keeps him healthy & sane. He’s even recently introduced his son to the sport, and riding together makes him extremely happy. It’s great to see them bonding over this.

In November Avel will be taking his love of cycling and using it to raise money for others. He will be participating in the Smart Ride (Southern Most AIDS/HIV Ride). It is a 165 mile ride from Miami to Key West. The event raises money that will be given to AIDS Service Organizations and directed to prevention, education and direct services. You can read more about this amazing organization on their website. Please take a few moments to read his HOMEPAGE and consider donating to help Avel reach his goal.

Please share this post with anyone you’d like, the more donations Avel gets the better! You can leave a comment at the bottom of this blog post to send him encouragement too! Thanks!!
