You can’t hear me but I’m squealing over here!!

I’m so excited about the conference, this weekend. It’s my first ever, blogger convention!

I’m a little nervous, but my good friend Maria Diestro is going with me, so I think I’ll be OK.

I’m looking forward to meeting bloggers from around the state and learning new strategies for my growing business.

If you’re going to be there, please stop me and say hello. I’ll even give you one of my fancy schmancy new cards!!

Now my only question is…I ordered 1000, will that be enough?!!? ahahahaha

Email Newsletters Are Awesome

Let’s talk email newsletters today. Do you use them in your social media plan?

I’ve been a very content MadMimi client for a couple of years now. Their interface is super user friendly and they are very affordable.

You end up with a very professional looking email, to securely send out to your clients.

No more regular emails with links for people to click on. (Yes, I still get some of those from time to time. Scary, right?)

No matter what email marketing company you go with there are several rules you should adhere to.

There is a great article on these rules over on Mashable.

My number one rule when sending a Newsletter out is…Don’t Be A Spammer!

You want to make sure the people you are sending to actually want to ready your newsletter. If not, whats the point?

How many emails a day do you get that are never opened but sent right to the trash? Or even worse…THE SPAM FOLDER!!

Don’t be that business. Secure a legit mailing list by giving your client’s the opt in option.

Small businesses can do this in several ways, depending on how you interact with your clients. My practice consists of flat out asking, “Would you like to receive my monthly newsletter?”.

I have another client that most of her business is from art shows across the country. She actually has a book that people can sign up for her newsletter.

Most email marketing companies give you the option to add a “Sign up for my newsletter” box, right on your website.

No matter how you go about it, as long as people are willing to give your their email addresses, they are interested in what you have to say!

And that is totally awesome!

I’m curious…what email marketing company do you use?

A whole new chapter begins…

Hi there…Happy New Year!

As 2013 begins I start a whole new chapter in my life. I have been working a regular 9-5 gig for over 13 years. For the last 8 of those years I’ve been moonlighting as a Social Media firm, crafty chica, and blogger under the name Hello Sweetcheeks.

Over the years I’ve been working with many small businesses, helping them grow their internet presence. Through all this I have realized that I really enjoy doing social media! I love spending the time making connections and building up a network for different companies. It’s a challenge that’s both fun and entertaining for me. I’ve decided this is the path I want to take.

I thought long and hard about how to make my brand the best it could be. Somehow I couldn’t imagine myself pitching the name Hello Sweetcheeks to a male owned business and ever being able to get them to take me seriously. Heck, most female owned businesses would probably laugh too!

So, as of January 2013 I have officially changed my company name to Get Social Co.

I am officially moving to Social Media for small business…full time!

This is the most excited I’ve been about something in a long time. I’m so thankful to all my friends, family & clients that have encouraged me to take this next (BIG) step and I look forward to all that 2013 has to offer.
